PRAM EVENT OF THE YEAR

Here is more information and booking form for the Event at the Wedgwood Museum in Stoke on Trent  hopefully I will be able to meet lots of VintagePramFans at the event.

Below is a picture of my pram taken at the event last year.

National Pram Collectors Weekend

Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th May 2013

Visitors to the second pram collectors weekend at the Wedgwood Museum will enjoy two full days of events, features and presentations. We begin on Friday 10th May between 6.00 – 8.00pm when pram lovers and collectors will be able to meet together for an evening reception with a glass of wine. No prams please at this event.

Over the next two days, attendees will be able to see specialist dealers (offering prams, miniature prams, pram parts, dolls, clothing, bedding, nursery heirlooms, vintage pram goods, books, commemorative gifts and pram-related goods such as prints, cakes and hand-made crafts etc). Leading doll artists will also be exhibiting their skills on Saturday. The museum galleries will feature a special pram timeline display showing ‘100 years of pram design 1870 – 1970’ and we will also display collector’s prams chosen to celebrate the four important periods in pram development. Illustrated talks will take place featuring:

‘Norland College – the history and training of the British Nanny 1892-2013’.  Thirza Ashelford (Norlander and Principal of the College 2005-9) will give an illustrated presentation on the history of the college and the training of the Norland Nanny including some practical demonstrations of the ‘Norland Way’ of childcare.

‘My time at Marmet’. David Osborn (former Technical Director at the Marmet factory) will relive his experiences at the home of one of Britain’s most loved pram makes.

‘Perambulators that made history’. Geoff Swift (the UK’s leading pram historian) will prepare a special feature based on his wonderful collection of classic prams.

Fund raising for Donna Louise Hospice will include raffles, pram pinboard, photo opportunities and naming a vintage doll. Finally, there will be a 10% discount offered in the Wedgwood Visitor Centre retail shop and factory outlet shop on production of a pram day admission ticket.

    Hi Lucy
I have already bought my tickets for the Wedgwood days. We would like to attend the Friday evening get together too, there was no provision to say that when I bought the tickets. Is this still possible

    Regards
    Isabel

Hello, I was brought up in Letchworth, I had a Marmet pram (don’t know which model)straight from the factory, as my grandma’s friend used to work there. When my daughter was born in 1985, I bought a navy blue corduroy oval-shaped pram for her, plus a grey corduroy pushchair. I would love to find out again what the model of the pram was, I can’t find a picture of one anywhere and have never seen an oval corduroy one like it. I exhibit engines at Onslow Park in Shrewsbury now, and would love to come and see you all. Whereabouts is your display, cos I’ve never been able to find you guys on the rally field!
Might try and come along to Wedgewood Museum too.
    Regards,
    Fran
